... and we think that more than half the city turned out along the large reclaimed wall to bid us farewell, with our captain responding with his continuous crescendo of music that would have awoken the town! We had been advised that we could enjoy our stop in Warnemünde without needing to spring for an excursion.

Good advice.

The ship tied up directly across the street from the main train station. Getting there could not have been more convenient.

So we decided to take the train to Rostock, the nearest interesting city, only about 15 minutes away.

... after a bit of train/line swapping we came to Acton East station. A relatively short walk of about 15 mins and we came to 10 Ashfield Rd. Lovely couple, Alex and Steffens, and a beautiful room. Spotless and modern (apparently recently renovated, along with the rest of the house. Down to the Goldsmith's Arms on Acton Lane for tea, a spot of shopping at Tesco's on Uxbridge Rd. Then back home to flick the TV around and in bed by 10pm. Haven't quite determined what to do tomorrow, ...

... and really enjoyed the people we met this way. Of course the main thing we were excited about with this cruise was not the ship but rather the places that we were going to visit along the way. The first stop on the cruise was Rostock, Germany where we arrived on the next day after boarding.
