... however, the surrounding countryside is pretty - vineyards everywhere and distant snow covered mountains. We detoured to Desenzano on the banks of Lake Garda. Clearly a summer holiday town but a beautiful town situated on the shores of a huge lake. The water is crystal clear. Lunch at local trattoria consisting of local trout - scrumptious, a walk around town, purchase of veggies and fruit from local markets and off to the autostrada. ...

I think I worked out which house is Clooney's but will confirm and take pictures on Thursday as we have booked a 2hr river tour in a beautiful trendy wooden boat. I am not at all impressed with how rude a lot of people are in Europe, they don't smile a lot and waiters/waitresses don't seem to give a ****. Also people in general, especially when lining up for things. I've had to hold my tongue a ...

... in the sun while looking at the lake.

I found a small roadside café on a hill overlooking the lake. The expresso was good! I sat there for a while soaking up the sun, but I knew I had a lot of driving to do if I was going to make it to Pisa before dark. Still without a GPS but I had written names of cities and road numbers on a piece of paper as a reference.
