... Nakatsugawa, including a ride on the world-famous Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Nagoya. At Nakatsugawa, you board a local bus for the short journey to Magome. There is a walk of around 3.5 hours over Magome Pass to Tsumago, one of the best-preserved and most evocative of the Nakasendo post-towns. Overnight at a family-run minshuku in Tsumago, with a delicious home-cooked Japanese dinner and breakfast included. After dinner, enjoy a stroll ...

8 km walk from walk Magemo to Tsumago.

The guide book and the tourist information centre told me that it would take 3hours to walk it.
However I only had 2, as I got up way to late to actually do this walk. What can I say i did it in 1 1/2 hours :)

Rock'n Roll!!!! found the coolest little coffee shop in Tsumago.

... my navigating tool. I questioned if I'd lost all my photos. Mike reminded me that I could easily visit all the places I'd been and take new ones since we live here. He suffered through re-taking ones I took early that day. Will ate ice cream and posed for photos with random Japanese people. He watched the mules carting passengers. He climbed on the telescopes and through some tunnels. At least Will was having the time of his life. It wasn't a bad day. I'm glad we went, ...

... of 90% of them: to see the sunrise in the early morning from the top of the mountain. That is at 3776 meter above sea level, so attempting to climb it is serious business. For those who find it difficult to put it into perspective: that's 1500 meter higher than the highest point of this year's Tour the France. It's just 200 meter lower than the Eiger in Switzerland. Technically it is not a difficult climb -provided that the weather is fine- but altitude sickness is ...
