    ... view of the old city - and of other parts of Santo Domingo as well. Another point of interest was the cathedral - the first Christian church built in the New World...it is very impressive, both inside and outside! There is a statue of COlumbus just outside of the cathedral, which is quite impressive. We also visited the former house of Colombus' son, Diego, which is located at the far end of a huge courtyard, which is lined with beautiful historic buildings.
