... Youngmi from the bus station and she came to pick us up. We
managed to fit all our bags in her small car and all 3 of us squashed into the
back seat, our bags were taking up another 2 seats. We went to get some dinner
at a place Youngmi suggested that has acorn food. We started off with a an
acorn salad and acorn jelly slabs along with the normal Korean side dishes.
Followed by an acorn pancake, then a big dish of noodles with acorns cooked at
our table ...
... on treating us to Korean sashimi which we bought in the harbour of nearby Sokcho. There you pick the live fish you want and the fish is filleted there and then. Eat with red bean paste and lots of Soju (tastes like Vodka). It's ok but not as good as the Koreans lead you to believe mainly because you expect butterlike Japanese sashimi which it is not. You have to chew alot which is also the reason you drink so much Soju in the process. But good fun and a great taste of Korean ...
We just went here as there is a small town near by that has warships and a hotel built on top of a hill in shape of a cruise liner....

My next stop in Korea was Yong Pyong, the biggest ski resort. It was a contender for the 2014 Winter Olympics and lost only by several votes. I had booked a hostel for about $10 per night, which turned out to be very nice. The room was for 19 people but most of the time I was either alone or with a couple other women. The hostel was 10 min walking from the ski runs.
