      Bilboa

Didn't hang around much this morning as we had a ferry to catch. Thankfully Winnie started up first time and we headed off to Bilboa. It’s a shame we didn’t get to explore the town itself as we’ve heard good reviews of the area. Maybe next time? Got to the ferry terminal, but some of the ferry staff were on strike in sympathy with air control staff. Needless to say we were running a little late, but I ...

... the top there is a museum and a giant statue of Christ. The weather has been fabulous with the odd overcast day. Once we finished the climb we made our way back down to our hotel where we had lunch in our room overlooking the Playa de la Concha. We spent the rest of the afternoon taking it easy as we were booked to go on a Pintxos tour in the old town that evening. The Pintxos ...

It was raining steadily and after the excitement of making it all the way to Spain we didn't really have any major goals any longer, other than to keep going. When it's sunny this is a joy; otherwise it feels a little flat.

Getting up unpleasantly early in order to keep going didn't help either. But we forced ourselves to get going again and ...

Never got away until 9:00 as the Post Office didn't open until 8:30. This was the first day I started out on my own and was a bit concerned because it is 23 Km to the next place that would have accommodation, and a tough 3000 ft climb. The highest climb so far. I felt good when I left and about an hour later ran into two Australian chaps, Jeff and Mike, who were very friendly and I walked with them all day. We had a ...

This was an early morning for us. Molly and I rose first and got us packed up, then we roused the girls for a quick breakfast. We were dressed, groomed, and on the road by 9:30 which gave us plenty of time to get to the airport, rent a second car for the week, and meet Inigo Oliver at the house. It was an easy 90 min drive to the airport, and Molly stayed behind to arrange for the car and pick up the first wave of visitors who were landing around ...
