Today's plan was to take the scenic road to Rijeka and stay the night there and for about the first time on this trip the plan worked.

As per usual I was woken up by some noisy bugger in the room next door and so I decided on a early breakfast and to get going.

We left the hotel today at 8 AM for the optional tour of the Istrian Peninsula. Seven of the nine from the group went on the tour. Our first stop was Pula where the mini-Colosseum stands. It is the sixth largest amphitheater and the best preserved anywhere. It stands very close to Pula's shipyard. We had a tour of the structure including its underground section where gladiators and animals were kept before ...

... Plitvice Lakes as we have decided to leave at 5.00am tomorrow morning to get the most time at the lakes . I think she felt guilty for messing up the transfer from the bus stop so she was very helpful. She is also packing us a picnic breakfast for the drive tomorrow . We have enjoyed our stay at La Grisa and the food was amazing , our waiter Marco was lots of fun and looked after us well ...

... eating two meals heavily flavoured with truffles last night . We enjoyed Semifreddo coffees ,a burger, fries and tiramisu all for $20.00 (pic) The exchange rate works in our favour here, where as in France and Italy food was sooo expensive. We also visited Hum ,the smallest own in the world , all these villages offered similar views and history .Personally I am just about done with castles and ...
