... served to us by a very grumpy waitress, by the river. We gave her our bronze change as a tip- good way to get rid of it. Wasps were a constant threat throughout the meal, a few knocked over chairs and screams as the wasps flew near our meals. All tired when we got back and so ready to jump in the lake. After going back to the hostel for a bit we migrated to the lake. Swam and then sunbathed, think all of us may have slept. Lucy definitely slept, confirmed by her ...

... look like a right pair of skinhead Nazis. Hold on, we're not in Croatia yet...

...but we are definitely in slozny blob eastern European territory. Just by going through a tunnel we have entered a land totally incomprehensible by language and highly differentiated by accent. I was going to take Kerry to some ice caves and the pretty town of Helstatt but it meant a bit of back tracking and we decided to push on towards Croatia. ... put her wetsuit on backwards, then her lifejacket too. Her and Naomi were given size 10.5 shoes so you can imagine how great she looked with a back-to-front wetsuit and flippers for feet. We were on a boat with the 8 of us and our guide who made the trip very entertaining. The rapids were fun and we hit them at top speed thanks to Anna's enthusiastic chanting which kept us all in time. She was named the captain of the ship. In true Oxford linguist style ...

... pictures of us all swimming whilst we were there. Shout out to Emma for rowing to the island. She was really good apart from the slight crash when we arrived at the island. She's working really hard for these shout outs. Katie rowed back, not quite got the skill of Emma but she got us back alive so she probably deserves a shout out too. We finished walking round the lake, having a one Euro ice-cream on the way back. Supermarket shop when we got back ...
