So, we have finally arrived! After some minor worries about my plane ticket and an exhausting plane jouurney (with an 8 hour stop-over in Sao Paulo) we hit the heat of Buenos Aires. The guidebook says that the best thing to do in Argentina is go for a steak. So we did. And it was good! I paid $30 (about 6 GBP) for a pound of rib eye. I will definately be doing that again. I knew Argentines love their steak, but if i didnt, I would have been able to tell from the fact that 2 of 3 meals on the ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina drb1001(posted by Derek) After a two very long flights (SFO to Mexico City to Buenos Aires) and a 4 hour lay over we finally arrived. Grabbed a cheap taxi, from a friendly Argentinia calling himself Joe "Schumacher" (after his driving style), and arrived at our 9x9ft hotel room close to midnight. Steph and I ventured out the late night streets to go for some Argentinian meats. Our intent was steak, but somehow we ended up ordering about 5 pounds of pork. 10.5 hours of sleep later, and we are out wal...
Buenos Aires, Argentina drichardsonBryan's girlfriend Liddy kindly offers to look after our animals for the week, and also ferry us to the airport on Friday afternoon. The flight is uneventful. The stopover in Lima is short, and we remain on the same plane. It's a five-hour flight to Lima, and then an additional four hours to Buenos Aires. We have arranged a private car (remise) transfer from Ezeiza to the hotel for the paltry sum of US$ 16.00. It's nice to arrive at a strange airport and find someone waiting for you with your...

MOTOS ARRIVE IN BUENOS AIRES – ARGENTINA – HURRAY – 26.10.09

At 2pm we caught a taxi, with a much more sedate driver this time, to Lan Chile Cargo, to get the paperwork finished regarding the motorbikes. Much walking around the International Airport complex did wonders for our waistlines. Back and forth we went from one building to another. Customs took forever, but our two crates with our bikes finally ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina jennykelly... picture, it was cheap and delcious. After lunch we toured the cemetary where we saw incredible tombs of the most wealthy families in Buenos Aires.

Even further to the Northwest is Palermo, a neighborhood consumed by open parks of which the residents take full advantage. We stood on the sidelines of a friendly game of fútbol, watched fly-fishermen practice in the pond and snuck past a Saturday afternoon Karate class. On our way back to the ...
Palermo, Distrito Federal, Argentina leahrob... no canucks fans are allowed to bring a trombones, trumpet and drums into the game (remember when my air horn got confiscated after one honk at the PLAYOFFS of all games!). and we dont have any heckling songs or anything. the fans were nutty. we did sit in the hooligan section but it was an away game so the hooligan section for the visitors was only about a third of the place. we were told not to bring ANYTHING like no cameras no money, no nothing. it ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina christina_lamScreaming kids on a bus should be nothing to write about anymore, but the little princess who graced our throbbing ear drums for the better part of last night's 18 hour trip from Mendoza deserves a Grammy for her scream-o performance at 4am.

Then there was the ''cell phone radio guy'' who actually played his cell phone's ring tones on full blast speaker phone- not even music, but the factory uploaded ring tones that came standard on ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina johnnytravel... to get to the football game. Well, it turned out to be a bit of a farce. The bus turned up to take a group of us, plus other tourists, to the game at 4.30 and we thought we were getting fast food and a beer prior to arriving... well, we got into the ground at about 5.30 for the match to start at 7.45! And the guys that took us inside put us into standing terracing without the promised dinner... plus it was a little on the chilly side when the sun went ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina thewallers... was suddenly after lunch and the day was slipping away. We caught the subway back into the city as according to lonely planet we could get a free English tour of Casa Rosada on a friday at 5pm but apparently that is no longer the case. Therefore we subwayed back to the hostel to regroup and work out what to do instead. At this point the day was feeling like a bit of a flop so we didn`t want to be too ambitious and ended up heading to the botanic gardens which were ...
