Ipoh. Where???

... woman got on and ordered people to change seats to accommodate the new people she was bringing on. Finally we were about full and the man who had put us on the bus came round to take tickets. When he got to us he paused and scrutinised the tickets carefully, ‘only one bus to Ipoh’ he told us and gestured that we needed to get off. We didn’t follow that at first and sat still but he graphically indicated that we needed to get off, which we did ...

Living in the middle of a lake!

... the worst fisherman on the island (population 16) but quite likely one of the worst in all Malaysia! Made up for it by Kayaking around the island, in a two man Kayak with a friend. Herons fluttered by and a vast collection of lily pads with pink flowers enchanted us... it took an hour in total and was worth every minute. What an experience, which was, in the absolute literal sense, away from it all.

Ipoh - Thunderstorms & Cracked Heads

... than I had been in the swimming pool!! Some parts were so flooded that Tom and I lost our sandals a few times, and had to hop around delving into the water to re-collect them. It didn't help that one car managed to go past and splash a **** load of water over us too! Tom playfully ran after the car shaking his left fist, which we assumed was a fairly large insult, but maybe not. Once reaching the bus stop we spent 30minutes waiting for a bus which never showed up. We were cold ...

Taiping - Off the Beaten Track

... he finally buggered off, which was good, because I was starting to get really angry with him, as was Chris, but we couldn't show it, or get aggressive in case something kicked off. There have been many situations over the duration of the trip whereby we have been pretty ****** off, but have had to keep our cool. This incident was right up there. After escaping the mad man with two teeth, we ventured towards the tourist center. There we met a really friendly girl who gave ...

... bad of mould. Everything (apart for one set for today) is at the laundry. I'm worried about my beautiful expensive special trekking shoes. We shall see. The 29th was supposed to be a 6h walk with a visit of a tea factory. Unfortunately, the heavy rain started early in the day and despite our rain covers, we were soaked and cold after 2h of walking. Take a taxi after a good local tea was the only reasonable option. It actually rained all ...

... figured so, and gave me some pills to help. He also told me, NO MORE SPICY FOOD. Hard for me to resist, but remembering the pain I had been in on the bus the day before I decided to heed his advice. The worst part was that on the way there we had gone to the market to pick up ingredients for a very spicy dish that I was going to learn how to prepare, by Soh. Not to be I suppose. We went for Dim Sum breakfast next door, for which Soh ordered far ...

Anyone for tea and scones?

... Ben (my brother) stayed here only a month or so ago. Father's Guesthouse is very relaxing - watching DVDs on nice comfy sofas, having tea and scones while the rain pours outside! We had a great couple of days enjoying the scenery of the Highlands. We went for a great jungle walk in the Mossy Forest and our guide was fantastic, pointing out all the different types of bush plants - from bamboo orchards to the pitcher plants. All sorts of medicinal ...

I told you about the episode when he forgot where he was and thought that i had drugged him. His last one in KL was that when he ...
