New Years day dawns with a head ache fit for a king. Heading out to find something to eat, after a very hot shower to wake up. I decide what is better for a hangover than McDonald. Sitting in there for a good two hour with free wifi and writing postcards. Stopping on the way back at star bucks for tea and cheese cake. Spent the evening packing and quietly ...

Day 4: Switzerland to Italy - Venice

A travel blog entry by abroszczak on Jul 13, 2013

... as a group we made it to the central part of Venice, St. Marks Square. Wow. It was awesome. The buildings were beautiful and massive and surrounded the entire central area. The streets were narrow and you could sometimes only fit one line going each way. It was like being in a maze. ... hours. The extra bonus being it has huge windows and glass ceiling so we can see all the mountains - they are awesome!! Despite sunny weather and balmy 20+ temperatures, the Swiss alps are still covered in snow, and the scenery is straight out of the pages of Tolkein. The trip finished at the foot of the famous Matterhorn - unfortunately fog had set in and the Matterhorn was playing hard to get - we were told our room had a clear view of the Matterhorn but she was being a bit ...

... it (my eyes actually watered).

Max and Annie went home after the terror wine and we continued to look around town. Once we had our fill we headed back to the house were Annie had prepared us an awesome lunch of soup and sausage which we gladly munched down with some mustard. Their hospitality continued when they drove us up to the top of a nearby mountain which was about 1500m high. At 85 and 80 they went for regular walks, played tennis, ate as much butter as they ...
