I want to go back to Boonville just to stay here again. The staff, the food, the spacious rooms with fabulous old of my favorite hotels, ever. They do a wonderful job of taking care of their guests and especially Katy cyclists.

Day 1 started with logistics and dropoffs, topped by a nervous stomach and motivational music courtesy of Led Zeppelin. Load bikes and check panniers and gear one last time, drive to Clinton, drop Jeff and his bike off at the trailhead, then take our car to Sedalia, where I met Jeff 37 miles into the ride. We had train tickets to whisk us back to …

Stopping for the night in Columbia Missouri after taking a picture of Beetle Bailey. I remember reading Beetle Bailey in the funny pages every day. We had a great day taking the back roads instead of I-70. Saw tons of barns and great houses along the ...

It was a long day but fun with lots of laughter and songs! I wish I had videoed Phoebe singing "Little Girls" she does a mean Ms. Hannagian. Also Claire has pretty much memorized the entire album and belts it out at the top of her lungs! ~Bethany Miles ...

... trail. There is a LC campsite and historical marker along the trail about 5 miles from Rocheport and it's only accessible by walking or biking. I rode my bike to the site but didn't stay long because as Lewis noted in his journal "the mosquitoes were most troublesome". I was still very glad to get some pedal time on this section of the Katy.
It was late when I returned to Rocheport and drove a few more miles to spend the night near Boonville MO.

If you are ever in this area, take the time to visit Warm Springs. The tour is very interesting and the horses are great. For as large as they are they are very gentle. We got very close to some of them and even got to pet them. After the tour, everyone of age gets a sample of beer. I even tried it, you know "When in Rome." Did not change my opinion of beer, still ...
