... Torturing myself, I watched is plane take off before heading off to sort out my own flight. We had had a trip that far surpassed our expectations, but at least it gave us the drive to start planning our next trip. I boarded my plane for Kochi, India, and set off on the short 50 minute journey across the water, ready to meet my sister the next day. ... for that night and coming downstairs to stay in her
personal guest room (not usually let out). No problem as I was probably partially the cause of the problem anyway and I was given a lovely en-suite single and encouraged to use the owners personal kitchen if I wanted to make tea or coffee.

That is the sort of place it is, clean, friendly, comfortable and laid back. It really does deserve to succeed and I have no doubt that it will.

... I am taking over for him. I spent three hours painting. I could have gotten a lot more done, but the elderly kept coming up to me for hugs and very intense conversations in Sinhalese. ... that my back was still a bit ginger and asked me to follow him. He took me a few Kms from the village to a natural therapist. I was asked a few questions and he suggested a massage with herbs might cause more injury. A leech session was necessary he said and after showing me his collection of massive bloodsuckers I declined respectfully, explaining that I was short on cash. No problem:-)

... houses crowd the beach front, many of which adhere to no kind of building regs: propped with sand bags and looking very tatty. The tsunami took a great deal of sand away, and beach erosion is a problem. Sea water accumulates in stagnant pools, and litter marks the tide line. Furthermore, the surf is no good for us! The waves are rough, unpredictable and break too shallow.
