... island of Penang is, the lights were so bright except for the pitch black mountains with clear definition between the two. This level of development also explained the need for the bus network, something that you couldn't really see from the quaint UNESCO heritage streets. We couldn't believe the skyline, it was so nice! After getting back down the hill, at 9pm, we waited for 45 minutes for the bus... rapid my ****!

... the work is ongoing. The temple is impressive, and some of the vibrant colours used and the ornate decoration of the buildings looked beautiful in the sunlight. Some of the grounds were tastefully and beautifully maintained. Unfortunately though, much of the more modern additions had the feel of a Buddhist Disneyland about them, and there were lots and lots of souvenir shops selling every type of tacky souvenir that you could imagine. ... walking on the trails so it was nice to be with nature and have some quiet time as we walked. Just listening to the sounds of the birds and the brusseling of the plants. We headed to lunch at cliff cafe, a Malaysian style food court. Also very interesting to see. The upper floor had the food; stalls with names like Penang ayam or nasi georong, there was one stall that said western food hahaa and Justin went straight for it. I on the other had wanted to try Malaysian food ...

Hi All, leaving Peneng today, travelling to Phuket. Sent email to Zach not sure if they are going through. At the airport leaving in about 15 minutes.
Hope to get wifi in Phuket but if you don't hear from us you will know why.

We crossed the road, Jalan Muntri, to stay in a heritage house, Sun Yat sen's revolutionary reading club. For the uninitiated, Sun Yat sen was a socialist revolutionary, the first President of the Chinese republic, over-thrower of Chinese imperialism. Around the time of the first world war (which obviously wasn't as global as it's made to sound) he was exiled in Penang where he and his supporters set up safe houses and educational establishments for Chinese ...
