We spent our last evening in Albany Go Karting with Caleb, which he loved & I dont think he took his foot off the accelerator once! Followed by fish & chips at the Squid Shack on the beach. Said our sad farewells Friday morning as the kids went to school & Nicola & Jason also went to school - to work. Our last day spent driving from Albany to Perth - a long drive which took us about 5 hours. We caught up with Rick and Alexa and had Pizza and a beer - thank you - with them befo...
Perth, Western Australia, Australia cjgrThe Tiger Airbus took off on time as has been usual in our experience with them. Tiger's efficiency on a budget could teach Easyjet a thing or two. We hired a portable entertainment console for S$12, which made the 5 hour flight literally fly by! On arrival in Perth just before 9.30pm we grabbed a taxi from the airport to the Formula One hotel on the Great Eastern Highway. We had to use the rather clever night check in facilities. This involved us punching in a password at the computer termin...

We spent a day catching our breath after the excitement of swimming with the Whale sharks at Ningaloo and got ready for another very long drive up to Tom Price....about 700 klms north east, we were amazed to see a large Goanna cross the road and Kim wanted add that she did in fact drive at this point ....this took us a whole day but was well worth doing so we could then relax for a few days and explore the Karijini NP. And surrounding area.
We started with a tour of the Iron-or...
... middle of the outback. We actually drove past it thinking that there was more to see. We had arrived too late for the guided tour
and the flies were out in force. Instead of spending a day then the night there as we had planned we just had a coffee and moved on. One highlight might have been the character who arrived in the cafe in full cowboy outfit, on reflection he was probably for real, Aussie style is something else.
The day became more interesting when ...
Hi everyone!
I've not been doing too much since I got here - getting reacquainted with Scott and getting to know the boys. They've all changed so much, I thought Ross was Michael when I first saw him.
I've been exploring the area - down to the local bar and shops. Also been to Subiaco a couple of times, which is where Jonny is staying. It's lovely there, lots of shops and places to eat and drink. Scott took us both into Northbridge yesterday, seems to be ...
Went back for another search for the kangaroos. Found all 6 of them. Thought there would have been more, but a ranger came by while I was there so I asked him how many there were. (Back in January, they shut access down so they could count. Hard to believe it took them that long to find only 6).
... to The Round House - Perths original convicts building the 5m stone walls of the first prison in 1831. It is the oldest building in Western Australia and underneath is a tunnel which the whalers built so they could transport their goods from the beach to the town. The volunteer guide picked John out straight away for what his crime would be back in the old days and John got his chance to finally have me ...
Perth, Western Australia, Australia kazjohn... war tunnels site north of fremantle which was the 2nd world war defence post for the city. 3 artillery pieces mounted high on a hill connected by tunnels from the command post offered great views and yep, another overnight stopover place. We continued to enjoy the resident bands at the Magnum bar in northbribge every saturday and monday night. We went to a big car show north of the city 2 weeks ago (1500 ...
Perth, Western Australia, Australia paulngail... appreciate everything! We had such a great time exploring Perth and meeting up with our old mate Neil. The lifestyle over here is amazing, the whole family is home from school and work by about 3 or 4 o'clock and the rest of the day is spent enjoying the sun with each other, it's brilliant. Anyway, next up is Melbourne where we're going to try and find some jobs and meet up with our friends from home, Andy and Willy, how very exciting, Peace Robbie and Love Nicola xxxxxxxx
Perth, Western Australia, Australia robbiedinho... approximately 150 miles south of Perth to the Margaret River wine region. Neither of us had driven in a while. Candy had some experience driving on the opposite side of the road, so she took one for the team and served as our skipper (designated driver in WA-speak). As Australia has very restrictive drink driving laws (not a typo--it's not drunk driving here), this was a particularly generous sacrifice as we planned to ...
