... in a few months, a small segment of the public face of Terezin underwent a radical transformation.

A smattering of the young and healthy were put on extra rations and fattened up. Athletes also received an increase in their calories per day. Their bedrooms were freshly painted and no more than three to a room were in evidence while the reality was dozens were crammed into small barracks rooms before and after the visit.

... toilet. I saw that the exhibition inside had no English... according to the tour book, the video was very good... I wonder if it had English.

Then we went to a bakery for a 2.60 euro Black Forest cake. It tastes light and fresh!!! I still miss it!!! We took a picture of a church and shopped and bought 7 souvenirs at a small store. We spent just over 25 euros but the shop didn't offer tax refund.

... not enough food, sanitary conditions, or medical care. Since it was a holding center used to house Jews until they were sent on to other camps it did not have a lot of the same features places like Auchwitz or Dachau would have. Honestly, if you just strolled around the town you would never know what had happened there.

A number of painters (the first were Swiss) and writers came to the area for creative inspiration. I love Berlin!! One of my favourite places we have been to so far along with Barcelona. We did alot whilst we were there. On the first day we decided to meet up with just the girls and have a productive touristy day which included going to the reichstag, brandenburger Tor, the Jewish memorial, Potsdamer Platz, the wall and topography of terror.
