... Sannomaru Park, where the castle’s reflection is seen in a pond. Another site well worth visiting.


From there we walked to a couple of shrines: the Oyama Jinja Shrine, where there was a small ceremony in progress, and the Ozaki Jinja Shrine, where they appeared to be doing some archaeologic excavations. Both were small but were different in design and structure from each other.

... only built 15 years ago on the original footprint and using traditional techniques. Afterwards we had an hour or so in some beautiful and peaceful gardens before heading off to visit a samurai's house. ... to Kanazawa. Lunch was bento box, rice wrapped in sea weed and a Suntory premium beer bought at the train station. Took another 5 minute taxi ride to the Holiday Inn.
After checking in, we had a brief tour of the fish market which is immaculate. Then it's off to a pretty authentic Italian dinner 5 minutes from the hotel. Early to bed to get ready for tomorrow.

... no way to get to this village. We had lunch there and then drove 1hr to Kanazawa where will stay the night. Walked to a Shinto shrine & to the Castle, Annette, Nat & myself sat overlooking a beautiful garden while the boys climbed the steps to the castle. ... liked the fact the trees had bamboo "hats" on to protect them from any snow. As with all Japanese gardens water was heavily featured alongside the trees and shrubs. It was very scenic and peaceful. Our last stop was Higashi Chaya a famous Geisha district (because of limited time we had to pick between visiting either the Geisha or Samurai areas).
