... us some peaceful sleep. A sunny dawn but by midday the thunderstorms were threatening so we were lucky to get into port just in time to watch the scorns go by. La Caletta a sleepy old town not much open , but what we are now getting use to for the Italian islands! Lots of potential but nothing ...

Driving to the North of Sardinia

We drove through some beautiful country again today driving to the North end of Sardinia. We didn't see the sea very often, but we followed it for almost 2 1/2 hours. We got to our hotel after stopping for lunch goods and checked in at about 1:30.

... surprising. It doesn't feel like Italy, and it doesn't look like Italy. We are staying in the top North East section of the Island, and spent today exploring the local area. There are marinas a'plenty here - very small, very boutique and interesting. Some have lots of really expensive yachts and others just have smaller rich men's runabouts. Most of the marinas have cafes, bars and restaurants. Not too many ...

This morning finds me sitting outdoors on the hotel terrace, looking out over the beautiful blue waters of an inlet across to the rugged hills of Sardinia. Not a cloud in the sky. A great place to sit and write yesterday's blog! We were up early at Livorno - had to be at the ferry station by 6.30am. The hotel was lovely, despite the blocked plumbing and the slight (!) flooding problem we had with morning showers. Reception called to ask if we had ...
