First Days of the Camino

Day 1 of the walk, finds us starting bright and early (.... oops, I mean dark and early) as you can see from the first picture, of us at the old Roman archway into the village of St Jean Pieds du Port which is considered the start of the Camino Francais.

We have the John Brierley guide book to walking the Camino which undertakes the Camino Francais route in 33 days. Day 1, according to the guide, would be ...

"....look at this... look what I found... o this is so ...

A few good beginner waves for me. An awesome way to wrap up Biarritz. The great weather continued as we headed to Anglet just north. A little more laid back than Biarrtiz, but plenty of money here - the houses on the golf courses are incredible. Another few nights in a motor home car park for next to nothing, ...

... recommended as there are so many to choose between: I got a piece of bread with iberian ham, baby-octopus (??? looked like one!) and prawn. All marinated in garlic. I also chose one pintxo all by myself: bolla de carne - a round croquette with meat and mashed potato?.. I must admit I don't always know what I eat or order... :p I went to the old part of the city and strolled around, had a drink in a bar, strolled some more. The streets are packed with tourists, who all seem ...
