... th*t. I went through security *nd befriended * Hung*ri*n couple going to visit their son who lived in Se*ttle. So this is the l*st blog for my tr*vels in the M*ghreb. I hope you enjoyed my verbose, *djective filled posts. I'll miss writing them.

Tourisme Hotel-small, bright, right in the middle of a West-Side Manhattan type neighborhood, good place for an afternoon nap.

Dinner at Le Petit Cler ordered:
• Goat cheese and balsamic vinegar on grilled pain poilane,
• Huge rustic croque madame and monsieur’s,
• Duck confit terrine with garlic mashed and mesclun,
• And finally a glass of wine and a beer, a beautiful light and refreshing ...

... headed for Notre Dame Cathedral. There was a ginormous line coming out of the cathedral (so we missed the tour we were hoping to take). We were ALMOST in the door, when the weather changed SUPER fast. It was sunny, and then all of the sudden it was POURING buckets of rain. Whatever semblance of order remained in the line seemed to go out the window! IT WAS RIDICULOUS! People were mobbing the doors to get out of the rain. The line seriously meant ...

... that stood out for me - the Hall of Mirrors, where the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919 to end World War I, and artwork by Jeff Koons. Several of the rooms displayed his art, including an enormous and colourful sculpture looking like one of those balloon dogs that clowns make, and a red heart with ribbons that appeared gift-wrapped. The art had absolutely nothing to do with the rooms they were featured in, but the descriptions still managed to contrive some abstract connection ...

... would put their cigarette butts in a container like the trash receptacles all over the city. Most of the rubbish here is cigarette butts and paper. Oh yes, annoying people on the métro. There are some very talented people here in Paris; we've been treated to some beautiful classical music in the métro passageways (either by individuals or practically an orchestra), as well as some ethnic music (a Chinese or Japanese flute this morning ...

... but I think that sort of arrogance adds to the city's ambiance. My impression of Paris started below par but ended on a high note, wishing to stay bit longer. But I'll be back in Paris for one reason or another and decided to join Scottish on their NYE festival. From the French to Scottish, I'm sure there will be many comparisons made. So, another airplane ride, another city and another adventure will begin here in Europe.

After two very fun days in Venice, we arrived in Paris! Our hotel was in St. Germaine, a very fun neighborhood in Paris full of different types of shops and great nightlife. We were really excited to see restaurants that offered things other than pizza and pasta, and me being the foody I am couldn´t wait to try the yummy bakeries and cheese shops. ... this weekend with a new au pair friend- Maria- who l met in Switzerland but is from the USA. We caught our first train from Lausanne Switzerland, into France and after a 6.30am departure we arrived around 10am and set of into a land full of the magic of Christmas!!!
