      ... a chore to impossible.

      The option people returned. Spoke briefly to Tony who was furious. All he wanted was just a hot shower. I suspect they were all very cold. Readied for dinner.

      Took a bus to La Paillote des Dunes. Ordered grilled calamari and got got a mixed grill. Had auburgine for a starter and a Celtia beer. The Fashion Police is boring dinner company but had fun with Omar and John. Background music was very western, including 'My Way'. There was a ...

      ... the Hammet Souq streets and its famous markets. Quite frankly, it was a bit of a let down. It seemed rather contrived and VERY touristy. Meh … I've seen much, much better.

      By the time the call to prayer rang out at dusk, I was done in. We drove to my hotel for the night, the gorgeous Radisson Blu Hotel. I was given a lovely room with a view of the Mediterranean and promptly fells asleep. So much for fancy hotels.

      Tuesday 23rd April

      This morning we visited the island of Djerba linked to the mainland by a 7k causeway across a shallow stretch of sea. The island is very low (15m max) & has many scattered houses between what were the oldest olive trees we have ever seen as with most Tunisian dwellings most under construction or semi derelict.       ... cocktail from the French menu and we all awaited its arrival. All looked good on first sight, until the first sip was taken and all fell into place. This is a predominately Muslim country and as such no alcohol is served. Chezzy a splashed out and bought himself a fruit juice mix with an assortment of umbrellas and swizzle sticks. To console himself he bought yet another ice cream.
