... and then we ended up falling asleep for 2.5 hours. We were so, so tired from the lack of sleep on the plane. Unfortunately, our alarm clock rudely interrupted our slumber by reminding us that we were about to have a mock emergency evacuation plan. Today turned out to be more of a leisurely day than one of plans or itineraries. We had originally thought we were going to Montserrat but by the time we felt like we had the logistics figured out, we also felt like it was too late for a decent visit and we also worried we would be in trouble coming back into the city via train on NYE.

... to the pub. Yesterday, Daniel and I walked back to the hotel from here in about half an hour! But granted, we had been busting for the toilet then! But the winning part came from, you guessed it, free wifi. And you should be thanking it too - one of my earlier blogs was completed and uploaded on this time on the bus! ... was a nice respite from the city heat.

That evening we went to view a traditional Flamenco dance. It was quite impressive despite not knowing exactly what the back story was.The night was of course finished by lounging by the pool on the roof.

My 3 years of high school Spanish paid off in Barcelona as I probably said maybe 3 simple Spanish sentences.

... smile or say hello so I sat quietly reading or listening to my audio books for the 3 hour trip. Google maps was an absolutely wonderful resource then, it told me which subway line to get on, which end of the line the train should be heading in, how many stops to go and the names of the stations. The subway is also super easy and convenient. Signs point to which side of the side station you want to be on, the trains come every 3 minutes (no joke!), on the train ...
