... acrobatic illusionist and his wife – pretty lame actually although one of their illusions was quite amazing. We came out of the theatre just before nine – just in time to form a team of four people and play a game of "name that tune" in the piano bar. The theme this evening was “The Beatles” and Suzanne and I together with a couple from Lexington Kentucky tied for first (ll out of 12 correct) and ...
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain suzanne-normanJust south of the town of Portocristo are the Cuevas del Drach, which are really four caves all connected to each other. This cave however has a large lake in it, called Martel Lake. It's large enough to ride a boat in and to see all the stalactites hanging from the ceiling. It’s a beautiful place ...
Porto Cristo, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourney... us off and then returned to the yacht go continue on their way. Usually the crew will setup an area on the beach with a canopy, beverages, and a few lounge chairs, but since none of that would fit on the heli, it was just us a change of close, beach towels a few drinks and sunscreen.
We weren’t nearly as hyper on the beach today as we were in Formentera. Today, everyone just strolled around the ...
I take a bus to the other side of Palma where there are some small, pretty beaches. Finding them is a little tricky but they are pretty, for city beaches and have a much more Spanish orientation. Some really nice beaches are supposed to be available but I lack the time to work them in (it is large island with slow transit).
My roommate and I go out for the night in Palm central. We walk around and find a little place on a side street ...
Breakfast is provided at the hostel. Coffee, juice, toast and cereal (cornflakes or cocoa puffs). It serves the purpose.
I go to the Palma city center (20 minutes by bus). The historic area is OK. Cathedral is beautiful and there is a Moorish castle. Most of the city lacks character. So, this is pretty much a beach island although I understand there are some nice hikes in its more remote hills.
A ...
... a hotel reservation service at the airport/railway which offers unused rooms at a big discount. No such service in Mallorca. The tourist info desk says they got rid of that service and that they were unable to help. They do, however give me some literature which has a hostel listed in it. I would guess that it is full but it is a starting point from which I can walk around to hotels if it is full.
As I walk into the hotel, there is a living room full of people. They all ...
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain urlaubsreisenTook a catamaran out of Palma de Mallorca. Mallorca is a Spanish isle known for it's many small, but beautiful beaches. I did not take my I-Phone for fear of getting it wet so will have to get pictures from Steve or Judy. So the picture included is from the Spanish coast the night before. Elise and Julie avoided the catamaran due to their slight seasickness earlier in the cruise ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands cpandjyAfter a 35 minute flight from Girona I landed in Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands. Since leaving Malta six days I’ve been on the go and hadn’t any time to relax, which Mallorca would be perfect for over the next 4 nights. The island is much greener than Malta and has much longer and larger sandy beaches; it’s no wonder why it’s one of the top destinations for European holiday goers, especially the Germans ...
