... worst moment for this issue I would have to be sharper in future or it would be a very short trip. As my head torch died last night - a good excuse to visit all the outdoor gear shops in town - (yep one...) unfortunately it was siesta time, later. Now some would say that the Spanish are lazy! I would say that maybe they have their priorities right. And perhaps Anglo Saxons living in warm climates have it wrong. A short rode ...

Reflecting on the departure from Plymouth I found it hard to believe that well after the scheduled departure time more bikes, cars and campers were still boarding the Ferry. ... this time. Yesterday, we did another popular excursion to explore the Cares Gorge which runs between the hamlets of Cain de Valdeon and Poncebos - a distance of 5-6 miles. Although Cain, the chosen starting point, is 12 miles away as the crow flies, it took a good hour and a half on what Laura at reception referred to as a 'groovy' road - she obviously meant winding! The scenery, despite the cloudy conditions, was spectacular and once we turned into the route towards ...

    Garganta del Cares

10km of well-maintained path (formerly a service track for a HEP scheme) high above the Rio Cares between Poncebos and Cain constitute, perhaps unfortunately, the most popular mountain walk in Spain. The Lonely Planet describes walking it in August 'can feel like a Saturday morning on London's Oxford St.' However, we were undeterred and were rewarded with a magnificent and at times vertiginous excursion along the gorge separating the ...
