      Lake Maggiore & Lake Como

... chocolate – my 2 favorite things! When we get to Lake Como the rain is still coming down and it’s still very cloudy/foggy. Can’t see much of the lake, which is surrounded by the Italian Alps. Such a shame. We roam around the downtown area, check out a beautiful Cathedral and stop at our new favorite, McDonalds. While we enjoy our cappuccino and croissants we chat with a couple sitting at the next table. ...

Off To the South of Italy!

Ahhh.....the south of Itally....speedo's, fast cars and lovely women! And then I woke up.....it was time to head to the train station to pick up our rental car for the drive to south of Italy and the Amalfi Coast.

If there is one thing that I really like to do, it is to drive in foreign countries. I enjoy the challenge of navigating through a picturesque countryside or finding my way through a foreign city maze. For me, there is a real sense of accomplishment attached to ...

The international brotherhood of Scooterists took Paul to its bosom today and gave him the chance to do something that he had never done before.
"I have never kissed so many men in my life," remarked Paul of his parting from his new Vespa club buddies.
But how did he come upon this group of like-minded fellows?
Riding through the coastal town of Santa Della Maria, Paul spotted ...

      Marina di Camerota

A travel blog entry by margaretreilly on Apr 24, 2014

Yesterday left Positano. We took a shuttle to Salerno then picked up a car from Avis. The coast road from Positano to Salerno was truly breathtaking and the driver quite friendly and tried to explain a few sights along the way. Headed south and stopped at some Greek ruins in Paestrum which dated back to BC. Weather a little cold and rainy or we probably would have stayed longer. Took the scenic root to Marina di Camerota. Stopped at Bascillicata and had a late lunch at a little pizzeria. ...

      Maratea and Sorrento

I have a few days to catch up on. No wifi in Sorrento so no blog. An amazing drive from Lecce to Maratea - such dramatic mountains and valleyys and such winding roads. We stopped on the way to view some 5 th century bc ruins. Maratea in retrospect was a lovely area - a quieter version of Amalfi. We had wonderful views from our hotel balcony and black sand beaches a short walk below. On our fine afternoon we drove ...
