owner was the quintessential manager of Fawlty Towers and along with an
interesting Swedish couple, we had plenty of laughs. The people in Sardinia and
Corsica have been so welcoming and friendly.

... here at Heathrow, so I've even bought a top here, still shopping at the last minute. Today we spent a bit of time going back and getting some things we saw yesterday in Oxford and Regent streets, as we couldn't cope with the crowds and queues any longer. Today we were there at 9.30 and were finished in an hour. It seemed like a different place, no crowds, no queues, and no clothes all over the place, in complete disarray. ... got a nice butt too. For dinner we walked into the city and had a lovely meal at one of the cafes around the town square. The ice cream to finish was amazing. Just as well we had to walk back home, we ate so much. The nights are superb, it was still 27 degrees according to the pharmacy neon lights. I'm not sure whether it's the combination of swimming and sun, or the aftermath of the hike around Mont Blanc, but we are sleeping like logs. Monday ...

... we found yet another great restaurant and sat on breezy terrace overlooking the crystal clear water. We sampled some more local specialities including wild boar and chestnut fondant. And the local aperitif called Cap Corse is pretty good as well.

Oh and did I mention the awesome two bedroom apartment that we stayed in which is ultra modern, exceptionally comfortable and spacious, with sea glimpses and a pretty little outdoor garden area ...

... drove to our hotel, dropped off our luggage and rested a bit.

We returned the car, no problems. Eldon had to admit it's so nice to have gotten and returned four rental cars without incidence. He did a great job of driving, he always does. This last car, VW Megane, gave us 38.4 MPG. We drove it 350 miles, and the gas gauge still showed half a tank remaining. In total with ...
