... hang out with native Spanish speakers instead of with the Americans (who only want to speak English most of the time). My goal is to be able to speak Spanish dramatically better by the time I leave, and I believe this is the way to achieve that goal. Speaking Spanish inside the classroom but English in my free time will get me no where. This is exactly what our teacher, Lourdes, has told us since day 1 and I am so glad I finally took her advice.

Next, after lunch we drove to our last destination - Comillas. This part of our trip was definitely the coolest part. We got to see an old palace called la Castilla de sobrellano, which was a neogothical styled home with hints of modernism in the decor. After this, we got to see the coolest part of all - a work of Antoni Gaudí! This architect is famous in Barcelona (and unfortunately we won't have time on our trip to go there), so ...

... rain of my life for a walking tour. That was so bad! I bought an umbrella for 7.50€ and the freezing wind broke it before I could even use it! Once we reached the church I was happy though! We went to the Colegiata de Santillana del Mar and saw some great architecture. It was amazing to see a building that old (12th century)!

... very interesting to watch. Everyone was wearing red scarves around their necks for whatever it was that they were celebrating.

After leaving downtown, we decided to spend the rest of the afternoon at the beach. Tomorrow we are going to the west coast for the day, so stay posted for more exciting details about our trip :)
