... country or towards the north. Seems as though as soon as we passed the 5000km mark we haven’t gone anywhere except from ferry ports to train stations. I really want to see and explore, but I feel I’m fighting a losing battle. If we do head out, we’re just going to be miserable and not enjoy ourselves. What’s the point in that?

So I’m officially in mourning now. We’ve missed so much that I wanted to ...
Ancona, The Marches, Italy 2totangoNow, I am in Italy. In this moment, breathing Italian air, noticing that I have, unbeknownst to me, started pretending that I understand Italian. I read the street signs, I read the placks that are coincidentally placed in front of me. Now, don't confuse read, with comprehead. I found a small City Museum that I persued, and the lady at the counter was kind enough to loan me a guide book that was in Italian on one side and ...
Ancona, The Marches, Italy benitalutzArrived early in the morning and it took us forever to get off the boat. No kind of organisation at all and then we had to queue for an age to go thru customs in the van, but then we were on our way. I was driving and got my first taste of Italian traffic... oh my god. It was crazy and we werent really sure where we were going and neither was Harriet our GPS. I love how everyone just pulls out wherever they ...
Ancona, The Marches, Italy emmasadventures... seen from the bottom. We walked up to the 3rd terrace..we saw the treasury, ampithetre and ruins of the temple of apollo. Not the best restored ruins we have seen but they were interesting for the history of Mt Parnassus and Apollo. It was hot despite the breeze and we were glad to get back on the bus..it was after 12pm by this time and we were hungry. We drove down the mountain to the coastal town of Itea for lunch on the water at the restaurant ...
Ancona, Marche, Italy jasndanOff to the beach today, that is pretty much all there is to do in Ancona. Beautiful day though. 30min bus ride to get to the beach. The water was amazing, bright blue with white pebbles.

Got a little burnt! Everyone at the beach was so tanned!!!! even the babies!!!
Ancona, Marche, Italy hayleys09trip... beside us. We finally realised the water was actually being thrown at us, some old lady was abusing us out of her window. Finally got into the hostel, The lady at the desk didnt speak one word of english so when she spoke in italian we just nodded and agreed.

Hal xx
Ancona, Marche, Italy hayleys09tripOur plan to get up early was a success; I even managed to grab a shower amongst the clickety-click insect wildlife, and we were off at a quarter to eight having bade a good day to Mrs Campsite and her man who does.

The first stage towards Ancona was another scaling of mighty lumps of rock. We gasped incredulously as the road continued to turn up and up and up in a quite relentless fashion. The view once over the pass was spectacular, a ...
Ancona, Marche, Italy saracengillSo yesterday I left Ravenna with my brother caravan to reach Ancona and then Pescara. In Ancona I met Luciana and Bruna and we went swimming at the Riviera del Conero, beautiful the walk to go down (and the climbing up is hard and swaty but feels good) but the water wasn't that clean/fresh. Terrible: first day of trip and I've wacked the ...
Ancona, Marche, Italy govindacaranahowdy trip is going well, seen what feels like a lifetime of things and i've only been on the road for about two weeks! You're never sure how things might go, but knock on wood, things have been amazing so far - minus a couple of bumps along the way, lol. I've met great people, and some interesting characters along the way. Travelling solo does post some ...
Ancona, Italy big_papi... from a Catholic pilgrimage in Croatia. I have never seen more house dresses in my entire life. Of course everyone knew everyone else, or at least they did at the end of the trip, so we quickly discovered what can happen when you put hundreds of Italians together inside an enclosed space with no windows and no cushioning to absorb the sound. We discovered that you get the hell out of the room if you want any chance of sleeping. I'll never understand it, but immediately after ...
