      ... seen so far.

The family run restaurant as part of the complex (I use the word complex loosely) opened at 7:00. We are Canadians so we sat on their patio and watched the olive wood being brought in for the pizza oven, the oven being lit, the pizza dough being kneed into balls and stored in the warming drawer, the pizzas being made and thrown, the pizzas being topped, baked and then either delivered to us or into boxes as they were picked up. Needless to say Larry ...

... to the KZN coast. After one or two hairy, scary wrong turns, we found the ferry in San Giovanni and made the 20 minute crossing to Messina in Sicily - very exciting to start the Sicily portion of our trip, if a little apprehensive, as I never know whether the places we book online will be habitable and remotely resemble their descriptions..... will report back soon..... A travel blog entry by sueesposito on Jun 17, 2014

... We had a siesta and then headed to the town. Don bought an espresso and I had a gelato ingliese and creme caramel. We sat with our new friend Nicodemo Agostinos. He had befriended us on FB. Don showed him photos of Australia. Off we walked to the Town hall or municipio. A man coming out of an office said we needed to come back tomorrow to get info on where Don's mum and dad lived in Mammola and where Don's maternal grandmother was buried ...

A travel blog entry by sueesposito on Jun 17, 2014

After a good sleep but on a very firm mattress we went to brekkie 8.30am. Antonio had a fruit pastry tart with coffee and I had tea. Again it was humorous to watch the idea of tea with milk being understood. That was our brekkie! Amazing. However after last nights meal we were so full anyway. We planned to head to the mountains in front of our accommodation after a walk around town to find Aunty Lisa's house. We followed our google map up very narrow, steep streets ...

      Isola di Capo Rizzuto- Mammola

... ready for a late night as the game started at 12. I slept and Don stayed up till 3am. He was reluctant to get moving in the morning. After a brekkie of fruit, chocolate croissant and cake we were on the road. To get out of Isola was a logistically nightmare! The GP s was correct but that road was cut off due to construction so we did 35 min circuit of town till we finally found our way. Our backs were sore as the beds in southern Italy tend to be very hard so we weren't in the ...
