38km, 24-35 deg, fine, clear and hot. A very steamy night in our room, min of about 24deg, without aircon or a fan. The first night we weren't able to find a hotel with aircon and it turns out to be the hottest. As Europe gets warmer in summer the hotels need fans, it's just so still and oppressive without them. The locals say that this period is called "the 10 days of summer". Lucky for most of us we prefer the heat to the cold, ...

... been suppressed for weeks, we had to release them, even for two meals; dinner and brekkie. So off we all went to the REWE Supermarket and purchased sufficient food for a small Army for a week. Dinner was prepared and cooked and taken onto a tiny passage/verandah which necessitated everyone standing up if someone walked past. It was all good fun and we all ended up fed and "watered". Another great day cycle ...

76km, 18-35deg, fine, clear blue skies and sunny. We had a bread roll with cold meat and cheese, coffee, fruit and yoghurt in our room for brekkie to start the day. The Mercure provided us with a coffee machine and pods which were renewed every day. Got under steam at 8:30am and were on an immaculate bike path immediately, which is completely normal in Germany. Rode through the park where we were yesterday past the Zoo and onto ...

... was the Palace, Town Hall, various museums, a few nice churches etc. One church we went into, Stifts Church, the organist was belting out some heavy music ( suspect a rehearsal for a midday concert) on a massive pipe organ. Impressive and nearly overwhelming in the relatively confined space of the church. We also ended up in the house of G.W.F. Hegel (no not the swimmer) the famous German Philosopher, of course you knew that!! He was and still it ...

... painted walls, marble statues, a theater, chapels, throne rooms, bedrooms, and even a toilet throne. The palace was cold and by the end, Annissa were pretty cold and could barely feel our feet. After the tour and a lot of walking, we stopped at another cafe in the square and had a nice crusty bread ham sandwich and some Darjeeling ...
