    ... woman ,began to build their own chiesa, adorned with mosaics and add sparkles to those already there .Theodoro even built a few of her own.
    The Ravenna of today is a small town , but has 8 Unesco world heritage sites of Byzantine mosaics. As we all know how I love glittery things so....it was on the list of " must do's".

    ... the city. In the afternoon,we rode out to the beach which was 7km always. It was a long ride in the hot sun. We were happy to spend the rest of the afternoon to the early evening relaxing at the beach. That night,we went for dinner in the city center, eating lots of pasta and wine. After dinner we went chill out in the town plaza. The next day we had breakfast and relaxing before starting the journey to Florence.     ... the hotel, our hotel, had recommended an Italian restaurant not far from the Casa Masoli. We took the option of sipping inside - yep, there was AC. The meals were excellent. Annette had what she described as the best tortellini that she has ever eaten and I had the mixed mate skewers with grilled veg. Mine was top notch.

    ... br> I am a bit puzzled as to why there is sand on this side of the Adriatic and rock on the other. My guess is that it is the current that dumps the sand on this side. Is worth a Google to find out. The sand here is heavy in clay, not as clean as our sand on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

    Venice morning was another spin around the canals and then a little shopping. Even at the H&M sales. We then caught the slow boat to China - actually the ferry from the top of the main canal to the bus station (45 mins with all the stops) to meet Lee who was waiting to meet us with our black Opal station wagon hire car.
