... to move the bags from the rack above and had came up with the ingenious idea of getting off the train at midnight, in a blizzard, when we hadn’t booked a hotel in a random city in eastern Romania. I tried to explain that such an Idea was folly for we would have to get onto a train tomorrow and do exactly the same journey. However I feared another beating (a common occurrence in our relationship) and accepted her idea without reproach.

... train to Budapest, and despite traveller's tales (mostly being Cass) of being robbed by sleeping-gas-dispensing bandits, we arrived safe and sound (and awake). [Ok, misrepresented!! Sighisoara is bee-ewe-tee-full, certainly my favourite place in Romania. the town is dominated by the citadel and is seemingly blessed by a lack of Communist dreariness. Gorgeous colourful platzes, cobblestones, amazing views. Loved.]

... It was strange to see my grandmother's apartment without my grandmother, still strange, everything exactly where she left it, with the same smells, the same feeling. We are incredibly happy to be here, on of the best places to spend time to gather your thoughts, a place surrounded by mountains and forests, by flowers and history. We will keep you posted with our adventures here!

... some reason. I would like to spend a lot more time exploring through Maramures, I'd like to get out to the Poenari Castle, and I didn't even touch down in the Danube Delta or Dobrogea. I'd also like to visit a couple more caves in the Cluj Napoca region and head up to the northeast to see the various painted monestaries. In short, I can't wait to come back.
