... city was particularly pleasant. With the 3,500 word blog published we headed out of the city to locate a supermarket in which to get some lunch as it had now gone 3pm. We found an ABC and bought the necessary components to make a super-sandwich, with Jim firmly in charge of proceedings. The sandwich consisted of cheese, spicy ham, tomato, mayonnaise, colman’s mustard and cheesey cheetos. Martin is now a preacher of the crisps-in-sandwich methodology!

... 13th century. This was at a time when continual harassment by the Turks prompted the villagers to protect themselves by making their one communal building, their village church, into a fortress. Many of these fortified churches remain today, so we went to visit a couple of them. The gravel roads and remoteness of the villages (or maybe just lack of knowledge) keep tourists away for the most part, so this was a great experience for us.
