we loved this hotel. we booked an apartment, and found it had everything we wanted and needed. It was very quaint, had character and loads of space. just beautiful and couldn't say enough about it. breakfast was great too, and the trams were very handy to get into Prague. a very memorable stay and didn't want to leave.

In the New Town, Declan also pointed out some buildings where Vin Diesel shot some scenes for the movie XXX. One of these buildings houses a restaurant that was supposedly the inspiration for the restaurant in the movie Titanic.

After a short break, the second part of our tour was in and around the Jewish district of Prague. Declan explained that ...

... weather turning pretty dodgy. I did make my way over to the city’s famed Jewish section with one of the most atmospheric cemeteries I’ve ever seen. The centuries old graveyard with its haphazardly strewn tombstones exuded sadness more than any other cemetery I can ever recall visiting. Later, I hiked up to one of the higher hills in the area for a few city-wide shots. After that, I found my way to the Prague Beer Museum for ...

Apologies for the delay in getting out the latest edition of the Skidmore Prague Spring blog--we have been having altogether too many adventures !

Monday morning, our string of good luck with the weather continued as we took at "walking seminar" tour of Prague entitled "Jesuits and Hapsburgs" (shout out to all the Holy Cross and JVC alums out there !). We began at the Bethlehem Chapel, where Jan ...

... Missing Munich to be in Prague had meant by default that I would miss Dachau, which annoyed me more than I can say, but the journey East now would put me somewhere even more poignant and thought provoking. Just outside of the city of Krakow lies the most horrific of the Nazi’s attempts to exterminate the Jews, and it was there that the rackety old bus I was on was now taking me. If there was one place where I could be guaranteed to get the alien experience I was after, that place would have to be Auswtich, ...

... and then trying out the local absinth which was surprisingly drinkable when had on the rocks as suggested by our walking tour guide but Amanda decided to go with the bar staff’s recommendation of having the absinth set on fire and that made it virtually undrinkable and quite amusing for me as I enjoyed my drink! We got back to the hostel quite happy and so we decided to continue with a few more drinks at the bar but due to starting way too early in the ...
