... largely unfenced - no animals graze the stubble. I can only assume the corn and hay are for feeding small mobs of the limousin cattle around the farms over winter.

We have little trouble finding a park in the main street of Giverney. It is a good omen. Crowds are down today with only one tourist bus visible. The Monet Museum is closed for a one week changeover in their exhibition... a strange thing to be doing ...

... square where it would have been centre now houses a very modern Church of Joan of Arc. It is an incongruous building against a ring of old, Tudor-like shophouses. The windows of an earlier chapel have been inserted into it though and the effect is striking.

We made our way into one of the small cafes in town and were seated in one of those double tables that is about two inches from another double table. (The kind of table we all hate to get.). But, it was all there was. As it turned out we were sitting next to a really nice couple from ...

... is truly
spectacular. The gorgeous flowers were all out and I could really see where he
got his inspiration. Craig and Terry have been really enjoying their cycling in
the alps. Tonight Germany beat France in the soccer, which is clearly a
disappointment round here. Couldn’t get a drink anywhere – too crowded!
