Later in the day we went to go see a sandcastle competition in Krk, the largest town and also the name of the island. The temperature again was around 37 Celsius so we took a break and went for ice cream. Em had had enough or fortress and old city walls at this ...

... with the intent of creating an independent Croatia. The first king of Yugoslavia, Alexander I, a Serb, was assassinated by the Ustashe in 1934. When Hitler and his Wehrmacht invaded Yugoslavia in 1941, the Ustashe took control as a puppet state, and the Independent State of Croata was fabricated. Like the Nazis, the Ustashe pursued policies to eliminate "undesirable" elements of society. Orthodox Serbs living in Croatia took the full brunt of these ...

Still close to perfect weather for us. Close to 30C during the day and very little wind. However, change is in the air and The Bora – a cold wind, is due and then rain on Thursday. We also had news that friends from London, will be on Hvar Island over the weekend. I
