Băile Herculane, Caraş-Severin, Romania rouademunte... the roads are much better and the people are as well frıendlier, but much less can speak English or another language.

The stretch just before Kazanlak was then a beautiful road that led the way up to 1600 m. Through a thick forest with lots of curves we ended at the top. Here the memories of some communist archıtecture was present. Kind of ımpressive but as well not very appealing

Pitesti, Romania silo... Olya. She had fun reading them incorrectly and the kids had fun laughing. In Romania, they give kisses on both side of the cheeks and a hug. I still have no idea which one goes first or how you do it at the same time or is there an order. I have no idea, so when I called out, let’s say, Andrea Popesku, she would come up to the front of the stage and I have a hard time knowing what they do. Basically, I confuse myself and almost kiss all the kids near the lips ...
Pitesti, Romania queenythelu... of Obama. As soon as Global Village came closer and closer, people were getting costumes and decorations for the country they were assigned to, so I decided I have to have something on my table to represent USA. I cant let my county down! I was in the AIESEC office and I was finding material to make a poster. Cardboard, recycled paper, and some markers. I made my perfect Eco-Friendly poster! There were head cut-outs on each flap of the poster and a map of the ...

Each family would get a set amount of money, enough for a flat, food, clothes...etc.etc. One of my roommates said that she once chose her clothes and there was only two colors to pick from, blue or red. They would have to wake up early morning to line up and get their bread for the day.

We go to the swimming pool every Tuesday and Thursday ever since we found out ...
Pitesti, Romania queenythelu... of town, including our hotel restaurant. Craiova Centre has some beautiful buildings and squares. They were holding the Romanian Music Awards in the main square which was pretty deafening so we found a restaurant down the road a bit and after some effort, and the need to drag in an English speaking wedding guest, we ordered a typical Romanian meal, Escalop Zingala, Pork with a spicy sauce and bacon.
Craiova, Romania souterOn our way to Belgrade we made an overnight stop in Craiova in order to cut the distance in half. Craiova is the last major city before leaving Romania to the west. It rained all day and the drive was rather ugly, as is Craiova itself, a very industrial and grey city. You can see Cecescu's influence everywhere. Surprisingly enough, we had ...
Craiova, Romania elgeneralo... existence didn't happen, it'd probably be a stunner of a city. Certainly it's easy to picture the fine cultural metropolis that it must have been. Again though, it just makes you wonder what kind of lunacy the Communist-era civic planners were affected with. To completely gut a city of its architectural heritage in the name of "modernization" and then replace it with such sub-standard, bland construction smacks of idiocy. The saddest thing is that ...
Craiova, Romania xerius... As soon as they saw our car approaching, they ran over and stared inquisitively at us through the fence. They were very happy to see us and were generous with their smiles and waves. We went inside where we had the opportunity to get to know each child and their parent/grandparent individually. A translator made the whole process a lot smoother, but most of the children were still very shy. They were all very excited ...
