Day 2: Few hours left in Venice

... smell of freshly baked croissants. MMMmmmmmm!!!! Yum! The breakfast was very tasty, here’s the pic) Italian coffee is great too!

I love the mornings in different towns, it's so interesting the moment the town begins to wake up, if you know what I mean. This moment in Venice is particularly beautiful and unique, you feel yourself not 21st but maybe in 14th of 16th century. It's like a wonderful fairy tale surrounding ...

Our first day in Venice

... one public one. You have to drink or eat to use their toilet; however, tonight I did beg one place and they let me go without eating. Anyway, we were sitting in the sun drinking wine and people watching on the main canal. It was great and then I spilled wine on Mick, so we had to return to our room and change. The funniest thing is that I spilled the wine because I asked a passerby to take our picture so when I was ...

A trip to Abano Terme with my friends

... from the exit of the motorway appeared Abano Terme surrounded by the verdant Euganean Hills. The cheerful Venetian Villas, Abbeys, Castles... and also our Grand Hotel Trieste & Victoria comes into view as a casket, one of those which contains a great treasure. And it's modern treasure is the thermal water. Treasure that during our permanence has delighted us a lot!! We started our holiday with the desire of discovering it and we let ...

Seeing Venice

... over 5 miles.
A lot of people told us we'd visit Venice regularly over the next few years while we are stationed in Aviano....and I think they might be right. Venice is an enchanting place, and the food is pretty darn good as well.
Allen and I are hopeless romantics, so this place seems to suite us well. ;)
Venezia (Venice), Italy

... same merchandise - Murano glasswares (or fakes of it), Venetian Carnavale masks (which are spectacular or spooky depending on your viewpoint; the actual proper mask shops are even more amazing), shirts saying 'Ciao Bella' in the design of the Coca-Cola logo, Italia jerseys, Venetian lace fans, etc etc. I think this is what made walking into the maze of alleys so fun, to stumble across random quirky shops. Which we did - like the dog/cat supply stores (dogs are everywhere ...

When in Rome! ...and Venice

... I think I've had like 2 conversations in the past 2 days, sad face. Friday, I spent the entire day in the city - seeing the sites, exploring, and uh...getting lost. Seriously, it is impossible to navigate this place - half the streets are not even labeled on the map! But that's the fun of it, right? In my wanderings I happened to stumble upon the opera house/theatre and found out that there is this huge contemporary art festival ...

Back on the Euro

In the span of a little over a month I blitzed through nine different countries, using nine different currencies, and since I'd spent so long in Greece, using Euros, that became the currency I converted to instead of the dollar. So when I crossed from Slovenia to Italy I was happy to be back into countries that were on the Euro and I wouldn't have to worry about converting anymore. Of course the downside was that I was exiting Eastern Europe and it's relative cheapness and the ...

Venice

... same information. She had to call some official to check that Rome actually did let me on the plane without a passport, and then put a call into the Ryan Air headquarters in Dublin. I was so nervous that I would have to get back into the city to board a train...I cannot tell you how I was feeling at that moment. So, she made the call to Dublin, and told me and Nichole to just wait. After about 2 hours of waiting, and still not hearing anything, I was ...
