That'll do me I thought but as I opened the door there was a rope across and a security guard barring my way. I finally worked out that I could get tickets at the Campanile so I stood in the line for awhile. It was fun though, and we looked through loads of markets again. It was a good day, and ended really well. We went to Uffizi Gallery, Accadamia Gallery, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio. Florence really was one of, if not the, best placed ...

... coffee was typical for Italy --  strong enough to paint with. Jan figured out that it was much more palatable if we added hot water to it.  Our host David was very patient with us to help us with planning and directions. Our first night there we tried a bottle of their house wine (red) with dinner.  The food was very good, but Jan wasn't too thrilled with the wine.  We turned in early that night cause we'd have to get up early for our Florence ...
