    Today was a walking day. We walked up past the Train Station to an old fort, Fortezza da Basso, which is closed to the public which is a shame as it has a great moat and little trap doors leading to the moat. You could almost imagine alligators in the moat, munching through the latest unwanted citizens! Then we headed through a couple of parks and along some very big noisy roads until we found some more gates in the city walls (huge arches usually heavily decorated). ...

    ... ticket in his mouth. Cracking myself up bc we keep getting scolded for not validating our tickets. Anyway, Blaine was not so amused. Finally 3:35 rolled around and they cancelled the 3:45 train... Again! The next train scheduled to Lucca wasn't until 4:45 so we decided to go back to Florence.     The Pompeii day trip was a LONG and pointless day. The tour we did was so not worth it. Out of the 14 hour day we spent 2 hours in Pompeii. I have attached some pictures. We arrived in florance at lunchtime. After having some lunch we walked up to the piazza Michelangelo to see the view. Pictures attached. Will update on florance ...
