      Wow...wish I had lots to write about, but it was a slow, walk around kinda day. Larry and I went for a walk before watching the city come to life. After a little breakfast we just hung around...then off across the river to get bread....there really is no way to explain this bread. It's made by a couple of guys at a small place called Amici delle Ponte Vecchio and it's really not bread...Foccacia ...

      ... of his life, branded as a heretic by the Church because of his assertion that the earth revolved around the sun. His remains were moved into the church many years after his death in 1642.

      Finally, we walked by Casa Buonarroti. This is the spot where Michelangelo lived as a boy, although the original house was torn down and rebuilt by a later Buonarroti generation.

      ... the image as they flew past the shutter but we were going too fast to actually catch the pole in the image.

      Taxi to the Hotel Bernini Palace (WOW!) and then a short rest before we sauntered down the street for dinner. I started with the bruschetta appetizer (that came with some wonderful parma ham and a ball of fresh mozzerella). To be honest....even with the wonderful fresh tomatoes, the bruschetta was not the star! ...

      ... coffee was typical for Italy --  strong enough to paint with. Jan figured out that it was much more palatable if we added hot water to it.  Our host David was very patient with us to help us with planning and directions. Our first night there we tried a bottle of their house wine (red) with dinner.  The food was very good, but Jan wasn't too thrilled with the wine.  We turned in early that night cause we'd have to get up early for our Florence ...
