Straggling into the last leg of our trip, we were grateful to find a lovely villa - Villa Ermenlinda - as our landing pad. Quick flight from Amsterdam to Milan then about a 60 Km drive to the villa. Truly wonderful it has 6 bedrooms and a view of Lake Maggiore that is breathtaking. Fortunately, the heat wave broke so the days are pleasantly warm , helped out by the breezes from the Swiss Alps just north of us. We hear the train to Milan going by often ...

... a pasta and salad lunch in the resturant. After lunch I went through my notes and maps to write the text for each blog. My methodology had been to load the photos for each day first then use them to jog my memory on the days happenings. I left the hotel on the 11am shuttle bus to the Airport where I caught the Malpensa Express train to Cardona station. Deciding on an early lunch, I found a cafe and had one of the best salads of the whole trip. Washed down with sparkling water. I then boarded the underground on the M1 ...

    Rest day Milan

A travel blog entry by brownd5548 on Jul 18, 2015

Day 38 It seems strange this morning not to get dressed in riding gear and have to rush to pack my bags. I wandered down to breakfast at 8:40am to say good by to those that were leaving today. It was another very hot day so I decided to have a true rest day and stay in the hotel precinct and catch up on emails and my blog. This plan did not eventuate, as Apple had released ...

... was spectacular and depressing. Leaving my dreams of Prada, Chanel, and every other high street brand you can ever think of, behind.
Lunch was fabito! We had pizza in a little pizzeria that played songs of Woody Allen films, what a classic! Ellen also told me to try a very thick hot chocolate, which basically turned out to be chocolate soup. Still delicious.
Then was the time to get very very lost. With both of us not having explored Milano before this was exciting ...
