It is in the southernmost point of the country, close to Greece, infact it was an important greek colony in the IV century BC, with a lot of temples, a great theather, an aquedot and a stone bridge that connected the sea to an inland lake. People came to Butrint to pray for their health and the women to drink the special water that allowed them to remain pregnant.

From Kala we headed down the hill to the neighborhood across the river, Gorica. This provided great views back up to Kala and of Mangalem, and allowed us to walk over the historic arched stone bridge. Several people were fishing on the river.
