Day 52 - Taking a Break from Touring

We decided that today would be a great day to take a break from touring and play a round of golf. The weather in Ancona area was beautiful and sunny. The front desk at our hotel booked a tee time for 10:40 at the nearby Golf Club Canero only 20 minutes from our hotel. The golf course is nestled in a valley with views of many hilltop towns nearby. The course itself was in need of some TLC. The greens were slow and the fairway grass long but in the end none of it mattered ...

... more than accounted for that. I think Italy has a lot of work to do. Once we drove past Foggia we started noticing young girls on the side of the roads. They were all prostitutes touting for business and they were along this road for the next 50 km! They must get dropped off as there is nothing but highway, rubbish on the side of the road and fields of crops. Some of them had chairs set up to wait in ...

... down on Positano before heading back through the wiggly roads through the mountains. After driving back through Naples we drve right accross Italy to a farmhouse in a olive orchard where we were staying the night. We visited a seafood shop on the fishing wharf and Dad bought oysters and mussels and scallops which mum cooked up for dinner. The farmhouse was a little rough but we spent the night planning some of the other destinations to follow. Good Night for now. - Grace

Some things don't change! The marina space at Petacciato is on of them. We had swum at this beach many years ago when we were house hunting at Carunchio, in the mountains close to the coast of southern Abruzzo. Clean sand, clear water and plenty of space before the Italian Summer ...

... we go to their favourite gelato place, two deserts is a bit much, but when in Italy! We wave off Al's friends before heading back to her apartment to collect some items to take to a Vinnie's bin. We walk through the streets of Torino one last time and pass the church where the holy shroud is currently on display.

I wave goodbye to Alex as she heads to the kid's schools one last time and her American friend drives me to the train station.

Bye Torino, bye Italy, it's been ...
