The path was very slippery and it is a miracle that I didn't fall into the mud at some point. Nearly halfway up, on a grassy knoll, a man was herding sheep in a cloud of fog. I felt like I was in “The Sound of Music”, it was so bloody magical.
Finally on top the mountain, we saw ridiculously awesome ...
... but it cost us about $100 for these gondolas and lifts for 2. If we had to hike up and down all the way, it would take 3 days and nights and all of our annual energy so it's not a bad deal.
Long story short, Deanne paid for a lift down to the train because of her knee and I risked the hike down over rocky terrain. It was a good decision for both of us, because we both made it back safely, and I got to hike through more forest and didn't break ...
