WE spent an enjoyable time wandering about the cathedral. Its big, beautiful, cool inside, and has some amazing stained glass windows. There were pews to sit on and pray, and some people were praying on their knees, most people however were using this time as free sit down space in a cool shady place (it was 34 degrees outside). One lady was eating her lunch at the pews, another was breastfeeding a baby.

Stopped at St Lucia airfield, a lovely private grass airstrip, for fuel and to have a new set of brushes fitted to the propellor pitch control, by Luigi, the aero maintenance engineer on site. Outside of the actual theatre, there are marble walkways with busts of famous composers and musicians, and grand chandeliers that lead into the museum. We saw many artifacts during our self-guided tour, but the actual opera theatre takes the cake. We walked through the Galleria ...

... 8211; remember this was 14 years ago!!. Rooms started at about $900 per night. So Sue made a huge decision, not to stay but instead we went to Como and bought a Ferragamo suit for somewhat less which she wore for years. One night in a bed compared to many years wear in the suit was a pretty good deal, The other funny thing was we saw a very distinguished gentleman from New York trying to do a deal because he wanted to pay the bill in cash. The staff were not impressed and ...
