... not by planning, just bad organisation on our part!). We settled ourselves in to a couple of spare seats only to discover that it was the last minute of the last number! Oh well… Rosa will be glad to know that we are continuing the tradition of arriving a day late or a week late as we always seemed to do in Australia.
We ate out that night Argentinian style, at 11.30pm, at La Poesia, an old café bar where poets, musicians and writers used to gather. It is very ...
... but then I'm taking the photo so at least we'll be
sent down together".
Meanwhile, Nadine had wandered off in search of the cats that are reputed to live in the cemetary (the reason for this is that they eat the rats that live there which one can only
assume are there to snack on the contents of the many coffins hanging around in the shrines)
and was sitting on a bench down grave street. This was too ...
... bus journey left a little late, the temperature fluctuated between freezing and bearable warmth on board, and then arrived late into Iguassu due to fog. We still had to cross the border into Brazil but this went smoothly and the hotel let us catch a late breakfast to recharge before we headed back out to view the Iguassu Falls. We got a good view from the Brazil side, but the following day we crossed into the Argentine side and got our most memorable ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina thewallers... been telling me how good it was for ages but when I tried it I decided she was trying to poison me and spat it back out. After a while I decided I liked it though, most people hate it at first and it is defo an acquired taste. Much better with sugar. I´m now hooked. We went on a rainy day up to Recoleta and the famous cemetery there. The 4000 or so tombs and monuments to the rich and famous of Buenos Aires are incredibly ornate and arranged into little streets over a large area ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina warty007Hello Everyone! I arrived a few days ago and was picked up at the airport by my friend Carlos (aka Chucky) at 8am. Needless to say, he was very tired after going out until 3am, but he was a trooper and picked me up. We then proceeded to his place, which was an adventure. I think all of the Argentinians are in training for a stock car race. Although there are ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina agshemain... definitely summer! We laid low tonight after a nap... went to see a movie actually (The Changeling- El Sustituto) because we didn't feel like moving too much... the Spanish subtitles were really helpful actually... fun to read them! Tomorrow we'll be going on a walking city tour then heading to Recoleta and its well-known ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina simsinchile... around Buenos Aires have included visits to Recoleta (to see Eva Peron´s tombstone, among others), visits to closed Aerolineas offices, many trips on the subte (underground), a few markets - in San Telmo and Recoleta - a slightly nervous walking tour of La Boca to see the football stadium and Caminita, and generally hanging out in nice places in Palermo. Buenos Aires is a great city - full of green ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina dawnandphill... She tests the power supply, looks up the laptop serial number in their computer, and says that they will give us a new one. She tests the new one and we are on our way! Simple. Hurrah for Apple and their service in Argentina! Just a note here - always keep a copy of your passport with you at all times. We needed it to complete the paperwork here, but also at the Movistar store for the cell phone. Since you never know when you ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina journeyer5 hours on the bus from hell!!! Full of screaming kids!!!!
Booked into hostel, which was a lot better than the one I had last time here. Met up with Fernanda and had a good night out.
The following day I walked through the San Telmo district of BA. The area is home to the Tango and full of Antique shops. I then made it to La Boca, the home of Boca Juniors the biggest football club in south America. This area is suppose to be rough if you do ...
... can never find anything. Maybe if I name it then that will be the start of a beautiful friendship. Who knows? Anyway, life is good here, eating red meat everyday which is probably not the healthiest thing, but there are about 13 million people living in Buenos Aires so I guess they must be doing something right. I will try to put on pictures soon, we are learning how to use the internet cafes. Learning slowly, but soon we will be super travelers!
