... however, the surrounding countryside is pretty - vineyards everywhere and distant snow covered mountains. We detoured to Desenzano on the banks of Lake Garda. Clearly a summer holiday town but a beautiful town situated on the shores of a huge lake. The water is crystal clear. Lunch at local trattoria consisting of local trout - scrumptious, a walk around town, purchase of veggies and fruit from local markets and off to the autostrada. ...

Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.

We are off on the next bicycling portion of the trip and started by taking a great bicycle route out of Milan for 30 kilometres along a canal that Leonardo da Vinci helped make more efficient. From there both the drizzle and the directions became more difficult to navigate.
