... United Nations (which incidentally Switzerland did not join until 2002), Swiss watches, and of course the Geneva Convention of war protocol (if there ever can be such a thing). Lausanne is famous as the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee. After passing through rolling green fields and vineyards on the slopes, we arrived in the pretty lakeside town of Vevey for a lunch break. Unfortunately it started to rain here and a ...

It was another early start today, but well worth it. Today we would be visiting Luzern, Switzerland, a beautiful lake town located in central Switzerland. Viking has 34 ships on the river, and ours is number 14. The TV is set up really well, so you can watch from the room where we are going, and then there is lots ...

... de Huningue which we followed all the way to Basel.

The other significant things were that in reaching Basel we not only passed into Germany and then Switzerland but Garth our trusty Garmin died! We thought he was good for Europe but it seems not this part of Europe, and once we crossed the border, no more map data! He can still provide us statistics on our ride though so will not be totally useless.

Basel, which is Switzerland's ...
