The rest of that day was fairly relaxed and I was actually feeling really shizer, so we had an early dinner (of Mussels in Brussels!!) and then went back to the hotel and just chilled ...

Brussels, Belgium tourists... at the same time. Practice is by far one of my favorite parts of this trip. Then theres pitching practice. This is quite the opposite of what i just described. I run pitching practice. I coach the pitchers and catchers on our team, i set up the workouts, and then i take myself through workouts with them. During this time, frustration levels go through the roof on both ends. Mainly because they dont know what im saying, and i dont ...
Mons, Belgium kulick001... after dinner and sometimes for lunch too, they eat desert at 4PM and only 4PM. Their dinners are usually much later around 8 or 9, sometimes 10. And while our desserts consist of pints of ben and jerrys ice cream or brownies and pie, their dessert is a small piece of chocolate, a yogurt, or a small cracker like biscuit usually with coffee. Its small, simple, and not a priority. Most everything here is real, organic style. They dont ...
Mons, Belgium kulick001Hi all, well we finally got away again, and this trip was fantastic. I finally made it over to the main land of Europe, and it is an experience i hope to repeat!! Work took a long time to get my roster out, so even though Dave knew he had two weeks holidays i had to wait until the week before easter to see if i had some time to spare. Some last minute booking, and the cheapest ticket we could find was the Eurostar to Belgium ...
Brussels, Belgium laine... she meant machoism :o) "We're not very photogenetic." (Julie, who loves to make up new words) "Do I compound it?" (Julie, on her difficulties writing in her native Dutch language after too many months of speaking English and the other way round) And lastly, a travel tip from Julie: Torres de Paines in Chile and a boat trip to the southern tip of Chile. Sounds very appealing to me, that National park and boat ride. Chile, here I come!
Brussels, Belgium katieontherun... of going back home and since the daylight last really long at the time of the year I used the car for good and went for a short visit to Waterloo to sneak in without paying to that lion hill (which was closed anyway), I got bored and decided to drive more and pass to Halle, which is one nice charming little city. After that I passed to the Atomium in Brussel and reached Grimbergen to spend the rest of the evening till dawn to see the ...
Brussels, Belgium maplefanta... it came there was a very burnt piece of toast with cheese floating on top. The soup tasted like burnt dishwater. I sent it back and another bowl came with a better piece of cheese toast, but the soup tasted just as bad. I sent it back again. The waiter, who had been overly friendly at first, was surly for the rest of the evening. The remainder of the meal, including the mussels, was quite good. When the bill came, the onion soup was still there and I argued that we should ...
