... the visitors were on the top corner with no one below or beside them. The stadium was also divided into 4 different sections separated by clear walls in between the seats with jagged metal at the top to prevent people from climbing over. There was also metal detectors with a one in at a time rule and the gates to let on one out with out a stamped ticket and knowing where you would be going. Then there were the fans. NUTS! Opposed to really cheering for ...
Athens, Attica, Greece coverman... they want, have an unrestricted sex life and answer to no man. I get the one shoulder shrug from my audience. They don't agree with me. Debating with Greeks is like facing the pack, never show weakness. Perhaps the charity I bestow on the dogs is viewed as a weakness? Not leadership conduct becoming the Captain perhaps? Well a good leader makes his own choices and like my favorite bumper sticker states, the more people I meet, the more I like my dog.
Athens, Attica, Greece heligypsy... Carnival is the party boat), so they know the old folks can't eat a lot. If you want more, you can get more. I never pig out, but I never go hungry either. I usually order room service for breakfast, because, as most of you know, I'm not a morning person, and also I can order something healthy and not have to look at the pastries and bacon. A few times I'll go to the Lido for breakfast for the waffles and strawberries, but not more than a couple of ...
Athens, Greece drtee... c. A power strip with European plug holes. With 27 people using laptops in one room, power strips are at a premium. d. Date book! I live and die by my date book in the States. Why did I think I wouldn't need one here? e. Greek-English dictionary. It was just too heavy to pack. But now I wish I had it. f. Cetaphil. I just don't think it's available in Greece. My skin laments. g. Music. See "Clean Clothes/Hungry Professor" blog entry. THINGS I'M GLAD I DID PACK a. Almost ...
Athens, Attica, Greece tiara316... mass exodus, but I don't blame them because it was smotheringly hot long after the sun went down, and we've all got the first day of classes tomorrow. All of Sunday leading up to the party was a day of blessed downtime for me. I feel much better after this rest. I cleaned, prepped Monday's class, and watched Dora the Explorer in Greek.
Athens, Greece tiara316... not being sure what we were looking at, whether it might be the wall on which the Spartans made their last stand. Once a strategically-important bit of land, always a strategically-important bit of land, and the most famous battle of Thermopylai was not the only one. (Ditto Chaironeia.) Thus no doubt various fortifications were built over the ages. To me the whole place is imbued with more sadness than glory, though exactly why that is I cannot say.
Athens, Attica, Greece karenmw... issue. The arch is out in the open but the temple was behind a gated iron fence, which was predictably closed. After snapping some quick photos we headed back via metro to warm up in our hotel room. The remainder of the day was spent watching some television since they had 2 channels in English (CNN and BBC), playing some cards and resting up. We went for dinner to restaurant in the Plaka, the area of shops and restaurants at the ...

Athens, Greece moviejcd... as we were walking around, we decided to stop for a coffee (Michael) and bottle of water (me). We stopped at Little Venice. The bill? $9.00. We are not penny pinchers but thought that a bit steep. Mykonos is beautiful but expensive. Son #1, start saving your dough. You said you want to come here next year. Come for two days and two nights and see other parts of the world. We will blog again from Santorini. Maggie xoxoxo
