... his sculpture. Did pop our heads into the church, but as a service was about to start, left. Did have time to notice chandeliers throughout.

Why not. Off to Villa Gregoriana. Not a building as its name might suggest, but an extensive parkland created out of and through a gorge carved by the original path of the Aniene River. The Aniene River courses through the town of Tivoli before plunging over 130m to a series of pools and ...

... internet search for a hotel close to Villa Adriana, this hotel hadn't shown. Why, who knows. On booking.com, which I've just checked, the price of the last available room, is $91.50 AUD. Besides the performers of CIRCA who are staying here, think we are the only guests.

It was huge, apparently in its day the same size as the centre of Rome. The buildings are now in poor shape, however, and we came away a little underwhelmed compared to some of the sites we have seen on our trip. Turkey was better!

A final short drive and we got to our very nice B&B on the edge of Tivoli. We met an English couple ...

    Hadrians villa

A very comfortable and easy trip with little walking compared to recent hikes. An air con bus took me out to the outskirts of tivoli. Hadrian might have been a raging queen mourning his dead lover Antonio but he had style, the villa is huge and must have been ...
