Drive from Santiago to the Pacific Ocean and Valparaiso, oldest port in Chile, was again a scene of a pilgrimage. 1000s walking/biking to a small church for a celebration tomorrow. Drove through rich agricultural land.

Valparaiso was a delight!!! Our tour group unanimously agreed that more time was needed in this fascinating town and less in Vina del Mar, a ...

If money and inconvenience weren't an issue we might have ...

... too, just above the beach with the pounding surf of the Pacific right there. We are hoping to recreate small parts of it in narrow-boat scale. At least we'll have the advantage of it actually being a boat to start with!

Walked around the 'Museo al Aire Libre'- an open air art gallery of murals and graffiti painted around one of the city's neighbourhoods. The actual artworks of the 'exhibition' were all pretty rubbish, but what ...

... on towards the other side of town, where we passed by the central plaza de armas, and went towards the furnicular recommended by a lady at the bus station. Just then, I saw a Asian kid in the midst of Spanish school boys and girls, and decided to say hi. The guy got real excited and wanted to take a photo with us. The whole class soon followed. He is japanese, studying for a year at Santa Cruz. Gave us his fb contact and we ...
